- The YPA EM5L is a male TA5M mini-xlr to male XLR3M adapter for connecting Lavalier or Headset condenser microphones with a TA5F output to devices with an XLR input. It utilizes an internal pcb to convert an unbalanced signal to a balanced signal, making it ideal for connecting a microphone with an unbalanced output to AMP, Recorder, Camera, mixer or interface. Premium componentry ensures extremely low impedance and low noise when a long cable run is necessary.
- The YPA EM5L also converts 48V phantom power to 5.6V plug-in power, allowing microphones such as the Lapel Mic and Head worn Mic to receive power from XLR devices and it features a locking connector that will ensure your connection is always secure when recording.
- Male TA5M mini-xlr to male XLR3M adapter
- Internal Circuit for a true-balanced output with low impedance

Terrific with the Lectrosonics mics
Opens a whole new use for your lavalier Lectrosonics mic which previously was limited to use with Lectrosonics connectors. Pristine audio with direct connection to your camera.
Allows your wireless mics to do double duty
These adapters create massive value for your existing stock of wireless mics. You have multiple mics for your Lectrosonics system- previously they could only be used with that system. They were unused most of the time, taking up space and providing limited value. The YPA adapter allows these to be used for wired scenarios, increasing the value and utility of your Lectro mics. For you they have created more redundancy , less gear in the bag and full utilization of existing wireless mics. You'll most likely purchase the other brand version for the mics in use with your other wireless system as well. These are brilliant! You only regret is that You didn't discover these sooner.
YPA EM5L Power Adapter Rocks!
If you use 2 YPA EM5L power adapters to hard wire lavalier microphone for a TV documentary. They will work perfectly, sound great, nicely made and are very strong and compact.
Overlooked but essential tool for your audio kit
If you are looking for a hard wired lav mic and had hoped that somehow You could use your existing COS 11 mics which are wired for Lectro transmitters. I recommend this device. Now when hard wired is a better option You can just plug your lav onto this device and am ready to go. No need for separate mic with its own power supply. Note: needs +48v power. Overall very pleased to have this in your kit!
Will this work with a Sanken COS11 with a TA5 connector?
Yes .Works well with COS11. This converter will operate with any mic that has a TA5 connector wired for Lectrosonics transmitters. It dose not provide power, that this converter is powered by 48 volt phantom power from the XLR side (mic input to mixer or recorder). The converter provides power of about 2 to 4 volts to the lav mic just like the Lectro transmitter normally does.
Will this adapter work with Audio Technica MT830cT5 lavs?
If that AT lav mic is wired for Lectrosonics TA5F connectors then sure it would.
Will this power a Tram TR 50 lavalier positive bias?
As long as that Tram TR50 is wired in a ta5f connection for Lectrosonics, then yes this should work for that mic.
Will this adapter work with earlier Sony wireless connectors?
As far as I know, if your Lavalier Mic is wired for use with Lectrosonics Transmitters, this power supply should work.
